Whys and Becauses (Children of Woodvale #4)

Questions find their answers as spring comes to Woodvale and the SK Crew’s growth seems about to bear fruit. Will Mark finally tell Preston why he’s ashamed of his vigilante past? Can Jenn and Nick figure out their relationship before Lyle crashes the prom? Just who is the freshman nicknamed Sunset, and will Egan be able to handle the emotion of the truth? And will any of this matter when the Church of Chaos comes to anarchize the town?

The first two stories in this book (episodes seven and eight of Children of Woodvale overall) were posted on Tumblr one chapter at a time as part of a serialization experiment I’d started on an earlier blog. I’d hoped the built-in social features of Tumblr would help spread the stories to a wider audience, but after months of little to no engagement, I shut the experiment down without posting the act three referred to in the back cover text above. Technically, W&B never saw a formal release, yet as the last volume of Children of Woodvale to be designed separately before I pulled everything back to merge into The Epiphany of Mark Daley, it’s out-of-date even without one. Still, I’m pleased with how the book came together: the cover has some of my favorite cartoon art from this era of my work, and I’m pretty proud of the “symphony” gimmick that carries all the way through the chapter and story structure (which I retained in Epiphany–you’ll see how).
